Hundreds, Tens and Units

This week in Maths we have been reading and writing three digit numbers. We have also been exploring how to partition the numbers into different ways. We have worked very hard and we are all getting really good at seeing the different patterns in numbers.

Algorithms

This term Year 2 will be finding out about how we programme computers to make them work.

We have been introduced to a new word called 'Algorithms'. Do you know what it means?

Algorithms are a set of instructions to do a task and they describe everyday activities that can be followed by humans and computers.

This week we started by putting everyday tasks in order that Miss Hatton had got confused with.

We found out that algorithms need to be:
In order
Step by step
Short and simple
Clear and precise

We then played on an APP called Bee- Bot where we had to move the Bee-Bot around the maze using algorithms. We did a super job!

Easter!

Today has been an Easter Day. First we started with our Easter Bonnet Show. It was lovely to see all the hard work that had gone into them.

This afternoon we have been looking at the Easter Story. We also had the chance to taste some hot cross buns.
In 2JH we also made some Easter nests to put the eggs in that Mr Turpin gave to the children for great reading this term. Thank you Mr Turpin.

ICT school collages

Year 2 have been using the new school iPads to create class collages. The children had to take pictures and edit them. Create a layout and a back ground and arrange the pictures. Here are some of their great results.

Doubling and Halving

The children have worked twice as hard this week doubling numbers to 20 and then halving them again! We have used Numicon equipment to see the doubles and near doubles and completed lots of activities.

Well done maths set, I'm very pleased with your progress. Keep it up.
Mrs Butterworth.
