First we went in the Lego Factory and met Professor Bricks.
We then had to get the machines working to make the Lego.Tuesday, 28 January 2014

Legoland
Wow what an exciting trip we've had this week. The children have seen how logo is made - grinding, moulding, heating and lastly painted. Everyone had a ride on the Lego Movie Ride where the baddies had to beaten. The children built the tallest towers where Mr Eckton and his group were finally defeated on Wednesday! Watched a 3D Lego movie, driven go karts, created their own smaller carts and used the force gravity to see which carts were faster down the ramp. It's tiring just remembering all the great things we did.
Here's some of the children's comments;-
It was exciting and my best bit was when we made the tallest towers. Isabel 2CB
Driving the police go kart around the track. My favourite fun day. Dillon 2CB
Well done Dillon

LEGOLAND
Legoland Trips
The children are in the middle of the class trips to Manchester. 2SR and 2JH classes have been and they really well behaved and have loved going around the museum. It's 2CB's turn tomorrow and the children and I were a little excited at hometime today!
Later this week we will post some of the children's thoughts and recounts of Legoland with lots of great pictures.

Measuring
This week in Maths we have been learning about measures. First we made our own 1 metre tape and found objects that were more than and less than 1 metre.
Then we went on to find out about centimetres. We know that 1m=100cm.
Today we were using a ruler and measuring objects in centimetres (cm).
See if you can find things at home that are bigger than or smaller than 1m/100cm.

Making them move.
After looking at toys in the past, this week we have been investigating how toys move.
The bears had to be pulled, squashed and pushed to change their clothes.
The magnets were attracted to each other to make shapes and had to be pulled apart.
To finish the jigsaw we twisted and turned the pieces.
We recorded our findings on a table showing the toys and how they moved.

Old and new
Happy New Year to all of you! We hope you have had a great start to 2014. We have definitely had a super start in Year 2 beginning with our new topic 'Toy Inspectors'.
Last week we looked at old and new toys from the past and present. We had the chance to look at and play with toys from the past. It was great fun!
