Electricity
This term in science we have been finding out about electricity. We know that some electrical appliances work by battery and others are mains operated.
Can you think of 3 battery and 3 mains operated appliances?
Today the children were set a challenge and they very excited about it. They were given a battery, bulb and wires and set the challenge "Can you make the bulb light up?" The children were given no instructions. Here is what happened.......
After only a few minutes they were able to make an electrical circuit to light the bulb. It was good fun!

Following instructions
Last Friday during ICT we had a fantastic time playing Christmas computer games that Year 6 had created. The Year 6 Digital Leaders came and showed us how to play their games. The children thought the games were very good.
RNLI
Last week a visitor came in from the RNLI, Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The lady told us all about how the charity works and how they save peoples lives. We had the chance to look at what the workers wear. Miss Hatton was very lucky and got the chance to try the full wet suit on. (Please don't laugh!). If you get chance, take a look at the RNLI's website http://rnli.org/Pages/default.aspx.

Fire Safety
The Fireman came in today to talk to us about 'Fire Safety'. The children found it very interesting and also had fun asking and answering questions. We found out that we need to make sure we have a 'Fire Plan' at home so we know what to do if there is a fire. What is your Fire Plan at home? What do you have to do if you hear the fire alarm go off?
